Sam was among 150 people let go during an ongoing company re-organization. One of the YNC outplacement firm partners was responsible for the processing of these former employees. Sam was among the people who felt they would like to investigate self-employment. Sam made that call and YNC personnel learned that Sam thought this might be the ideal time to become his own boss and control his own destiny, by starting a graphics consulting company. His idea; to assist advertising agencies with special computer techniques. His background: 15 years in the advertising business specializing in computers but with no experience in starting a company. His question - where to start?

YNC recommended the Silver Program as the appropriate starting place to obtain knowledge of the core details necessary for a successful consulting firm. Sam paid the fee by credit card, and was immediately provided access to the Questionnaire. Sam filled out the Questionnaire and YNC personnel reviewed his skills, work experience, his natural abilities and personality traits as they relate to the requirements of being self-employed. Sam also received by UPS the "basic" YNC Curriculum. This Curriculum focuses on the general requirements and skills needed to start companies.

The Silver program relies primarily on email for interaction. YNC personnel emailed their recommendations detailing which areas Sam needed to work to improve his prospects for success. Sam spent 3 months of concentrated study enhancing his skills, and felt himself ready to "take the plunge" as long as he could have a coach. 6 months later, Sam was up and running and not only had his old company as a client but also had 3 other clients.
